THE CURRICULUM

For the first time ever, LALA is launching a deep-dive, three-week program based on Medellín, focused on hard sciences and how to apply them through an environmental perspective. The world as we know it is being threatened global warming and its consequent social challenges. We understand it is about time we acknowledge and address these issues through the lenses of science and social entrepreneurship, in order to make meaningful impact in our communities. Together with politicians, social entrepreneurs and scholars, you are going to better learn about the problems our continent faces and be inspired to find solutions for them.

Our curriculum is aligned with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, that serve as the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.

WHY MEDELLÍN?

After being regarded as the most violent city in the world in the 80’s, Medellín went through a process of modernization and in 2013 was elected the most innovative city in the world. Through investments in public transportation, microcredit, public-private partnerships, technology and entrepreneurship, Medellín went from the so-called headquarters of Escobar’s gang to an example to the world on how to fight problems so far unbeatable.

Today, the city is a hectic space with startups, new ventures, industries, universities and counts with a wide array of public spaces in unprivileged areas. We choose Medellín not only as the city where the bootcamp will take place but as the largest classroom in the world, where our students will know first-handedly the practical results of using technology, science and politics in improving communities.
